Our team

MHI is committed to building capacity and establishing strong partnerships in the places where we work. Our team brings a diverse set of experience and skills, maximising the quality of our programming.

Sarah Eustis-Guthrie

Director of Research and Strategy

Sarah has a deep grounding in research and policy through her prior work in the California Civil Service providing strategic guidance on the implementation of healthcare regulation in the state.


A passion for improving the lives of women across the world has been a consistent theme in her work, including during her time at the University of Chicago conducting research for the renowned philosopher Martha Nussbaum.


Sarah leads MHI’s research into the effectiveness of our programming, while overseeing our fundraising, financial planning, and broader strategy.

Ben Williamson

Director of Partnerships and Field Operations

Ben is an experienced entrepreneur with a strong background in international development. Prior to MHI, he founded and led a UK-based mental health research organisation.

 

He studied an MA (Hons) Geography from the University of Edinburgh, specialising in sustainable development. He has worked in more than five different countries in a variety of practical and strategic roles.

 

Ben spearheads the implementation of our programming, leading MHI’s work on operations, partnerships, and monitoring and evaluation.

Sulemana Hikimatu Tibangtaba

Training Facilitator

Madam Sulemana Hikimatu Tibangtaba is a Senior Health Tutor and Public Health Nurse at Community Health Nurses
Training School (CHNTC) in Tamale, as well as a trained midwife.

 

Madam Hikimatu leads MHI’s training delivery, passing on her extensive knowledge and experience in sexual reproductive health work to the staff we train.

Sofía Martínez Gálvez​

Program Officer

Sofia holds a Masters in Data, Economics and Development Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

 

Sofia has previously worked in Ghana as a Project Coordinator for Nasco Feeding Minds. Her experience as a development professional includes time at both Evidence Action and the .

 

Sofia is passionate about  direct engagement with beneficiaries and leads MHI’s work on the ground while living in Accra.

Racheal Antwi​

Program Officer, Savana Signatures

Racheal works for Savana Signatures, MHI’s first local implementation partner. She leads our work with Savana Signatures, delivering the fieldwork and monitoring and evaluation that makes our trainings possible.

 

Racheal speaks more than five languages, helping her reach and understand beneficiaries across the diverse communities of northern Ghana.

Enoch Weyori​

MEL Manager, Norsaac

Enoch works for Norsaac, one of MHI’s local implementing partners and leads our programming through this partnership.

He has an extensive background working with the Ghana Health Service in the northern regions. He also has a strong grounding in monitoring and evaluation work, with over 10 years experience as a statistician.

Anna Christina Thorsheim

Executive Director, Family
Empowerment Media

Anna Christina leads Family Empowerment Media’s work in providing high-quality radio programming around contraceptive use and birth spacing.

FEM regularly reaches 5 million listeners with family planning content in Nigeria, with an additional 10 million listeners for their shorter proof of concept campaign.

Dr. Alison Edelman

Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Oregon Health & Science University

Alison is an expert in complex family planning with close to 20 years of experience in developing sexual and reproductive health programming in low and middle income countries.

She serves as Lead Editor of the Cochrane Fertility Regulation Review Group, Associate Editor of the journal Contraception, and is a member of the World Health Organisation’s steering committee for Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use.

Jedidah Millapo Karia

Training Officer & Capacity Building Advisor, IHM Southern Africa

Jedidah is a capacity building and strategy Advisor with over seven years of expertise in developing and scaling training programs in sub-Saharan Africa.

 

She plays a core role in the implementation

Shadie Tofigh

Director, Maternal and Infant Health Initiatives, March of Dimes

Shadie is an expert in reproductive health, with over 15 years of experience developing family planning programming in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

 

She has particular expertise in contraceptive counselling and client-centred care and has previously worked with organisations such as the International Planned Parenthood Federation, Ipas, and Save the Children.

Tony Senanayake

Chief Strategy Officer, Fortify Health

Tony has extensive experience in the development sector, currently driving forward Fortify Health’s work to combat micronutrient deficiencies in India through flour fortification.

Before this, Tony worked as a Senior Manager for IDInsight where he led teams conducting research and evaluation for a range of development projects.


Additionally, Tony holds an MBA from Yale University and worked for Deloitte for six years as part of their Global Innovation and Investments team.

Juliette Finetti

Research Director, University of Chicago

Juliette is a Research Director at the University of Chicago, currently leading work studying the impact of social signalling on immunisation rates in Sierra Leone.


She holds a Masters in International Development from Sciences Po and has previously worked at Princeton University, Innovations for Poverty Action, and Charity Science Health.

Joey Savoie

Co-Founder & Director of Strategy,
Charity Entrepreneurship

Joey co-founded Charity Entrepreneurship in 2018 and the organisation has since helped launch 23 high-impact nonprofits through its Incubation Program. With Charity Entrepreneurship’s support, these charities have fundraised more than $20 million from a diverse range of grantmakers and organisations.


Prior to this, Joey founded and led Charity Science Health, a global health charity sending SMS reminders for immunisation appointments in India.

Dr. Akhil Bansal

Field Strategy Consultant, Schmidt Futures

Akhil is a clinical doctor at St Vincent’s Hospital with extensive research experience, including co-leading a clinical teacher training program.

He currently works for Schmidt Futures investigating health systems strengthening around antimicrobial resistance and has previously done work at Stanford, Open Philanthropy and Charity Entrepreneurship.

Julian Jamison

Senior Research Affiliate, Global Priorities Institute

A distinguished researcher and academic, Julian’s work has been published in academic journals across a wide range of disciplines. He has held positions as a fellow or visiting faculty member at several leading institutions, including HEC Paris, Yale and Harvard.

 

Julian’s research explores the interaction between individual preferences and institutional policies, including projects studying family planning interventions in Cameroon, Mozambique, and Tanzania.
